About the Scheme

The Prince's Trust provides each new business it supports with its own Business Mentor. Mentors will have a varied experience of the business environment and will be able to provide guidance to the client. For example, some of our current mentors are builders, painters, beauticians, IT specialists, clerical/administration staff, bank officials and business owners. We try to match the mentor with either a skill or a hobby they have, therefore, you can mix business with pleasure!

As a mentor you gain personal satisfaction through sharing your expertise with clients who require business start-up support. You not only provide friendly counselling and guidance, you will also:

  1. Increase your profile in the community and fully involve your staff in supporting The Prince's Trust
  2. Contribute to raising the aspirations and opportunities for thousands of young people across Northern Ireland
  3. Invest in your employees and offer them a chance for personal development, skills development and greater self-confidence outside of their normal workplace
  4. Raise your profile in the corporate community by sponsoring a Trust Event or taking advantage of our corporate hospitality opportunities ·Discover and utilise your most powerful capabilities
  5. Recognise and take advantage of opportunities
  6. Build on strengths, advise and teach new skills
  7. Help the client recognise progress and establish and reach goals

As a Voluntary Business Mentor you are only required to give around two hours of your time each month to work with your client. By sharing your knowledge and expertise, you also strengthen your company's community involvement.
