The illuminated manuscripts are among the greatest treasures to have survived from medieval Europe. In particular, the Book of Kells, with its vivid colours and intricate patterns has proved a source of inspiration and delight down the centuries to the present day.

Of the many ancient manuscripts lovingly created by ceitic scribes, the four Evangelists appear in all, including the Book of Armagh and repeatedly throughout the Book of Kells. They are depicted through symbols; the Man, symbolizing Matthew; the Lion, Mark; the Calf, Luke; and the eagle, John.

These delightful prints are produced solely by Celic Illuminations and are sold either mounted or framed. The six designs available come in a choice of two coloured mounts; matching red or blue. Some have never been created in colour until now. Tastefully designed they serve as both a decorative accessory for the modern home and as an element of Irish heritage.
